Wiiware coming in March (hopefully) which is good news for for all of us geeks and researchers who want to program Wii games.
Has there been any word as to whether this will allow us as independent developers and students to develop for the Wii, or is this solely an equivalent of Xbox Live Arcade for professionals only?
Havent seen anything definite yet, but was rumoured to be more open than XNA.
There’s a feature in Edge Magazine this month coming (got it early since I’m a subscriber) about Wiiware – basically it seems to have a much lower barrier for entry point – Nintendo don’t require as complete a demo as Microsoft do before giving the go ahead. Also, dev kits are much cheaper than 360/PS3. Didn’t see anything about hobbyist/student development, though I haven’t actually read the entire article yet (too busy doing PhD student stuff!)
